...

In the darkness a silhouette gazes
There she lurks, grinning, smiling.
A raised brow, a question, “I thought you’ve left me?”
I tried. You were always there, trailing me. Why?
“It was inevitable”, she said.

Once again, swathed in her cloak, I wait.
Solitude.
This is my curse.

Is this the path that has been set forth for me?
Her reply, “It was inevitable.”
How long must I again endure this bitter loneliness?
“Here, time has no meaning.”

Once again, swathed in her cloak, I wait.
Solitude.
This is my curse.

Alone…nothing but a dark void.
“You are not alone. You have me.”

Once again, swathed in her cloak, I wait.
Solitude.
This is my curse.

...

Was it all a sick joke?
She showed me how to love.
She showed me all the other shades of colour.
She was the only one worth calling Love.
So tell me, was it all a sick joke?
You giveth, and you taketh.

All was defined.
I was whole.
Once again, you’ve left me to my misery.
How much longer do I have to endure this thing you call a test?
Is it not enough that I be a loyal servant?
What’s left for you to take?
All I have left are the shattered remnants of what I once called a heart.
A forced smile and a “chin up” will not do.
Nor will an apology.
Not even my pride is enough to get me through this.
Is this a sick joke?

Are you happy?
Are you laughing as you push the pawns?
Am I just a puppet to you?
Are you scheming for the next delusional test you have in store for me?
I want her back.
Cliché or not, she made me whole.
I need her back.
Give her back.

Thank you.
Once again, I crawl back into the dark space that I came from.
Once again, you’ve help me slip back to what I hate the most.
Alone.
